Susan已經(jīng)離開(kāi)出版社，和交往多年的男友Andreas搬到了克里特島居住，但一起謀殺案的陰影擾亂了她的美好生活。英國(guó)的一家鄉(xiāng)村酒店在八年前發(fā)生了一起謀殺案，Alan Conway在參觀了這家酒店后，根據(jù)發(fā)生的事情寫(xiě)了一本小說(shuō)。幫助經(jīng)營(yíng)這家酒店的年輕女子Cecily Treherne讀到了這本書(shū)，認(rèn)為警方抓錯(cuò)了人。如今她消失了。
